Truth Boots Publishing, LLC, is my second publishing company. The first one, Flio Widdix Publishing, was named after a car which had the license plate FL10WDX. Truth Boots Publishing’s name comes from the quote, “A lie can travel around the world and back again while the truth is lacing up its boots.” That quote is often attributed to Mark Twain, even though other people made similar comments long before Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born. No one, however, seems to be able to find this quote in any of Twain’s writings.
Wherever it came from, it makes the right statement for the circumstances in my newest book, Aggravated: The True Story of How a Series of Lies Sent an Innocent Man to Prison. A lie often spreads too quickly to combat it immediately, but it can be defeated if people are willing to listen and think logically. What I’m hoping to do with Aggravated, is to prove the unprovable. I hope you’ll come along with me while I try.
